WELCOME TO THE GULF ATLANTIC DIOCESE
On May 14, 2022, at St. Peter’s Anglican Cathedral in Tallahassee, FL, delegates to a Special Synod of the Gulf Atlantic Diocese elected the Rev. Alex Farmer to be their second Bishop. Pending the consent of the Anglican Church in North America’s College of Bishops in June, Bishop-Elect Farmer will be consecrated at St. Peter’s Anglican Cathedral on August 27.
The Gulf Atlantic Diocese is a vibrant and thriving diocese in the Anglican Church in North America. Nestled between the beautiful Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean, our diocese is passionate about reaching the southeastern United States with the transforming love of Jesus Christ.
We hope this website gives you a small glimpse into who we are, where we have been, and where God is calling us to go by His grace. As you read through the diocesan and candidate profiles, please know that we have prayed for you. We have a firm conviction that God already has chosen the man who will lead our diocese as bishop. Our task is not so much in deciding who will lead us, but discerning whom God has already called to lead us.
Whether you are planning to nominate someone to be considered for bishop, are yourself considering nomination, or just curious to get to know us, we are honored that you have taken the time to learn more about us. We invite you to join us in praying for the nomination process, the election, and for our future bishop.
Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a Bishop for this Diocese that we may receive a faithful pastor who will preach the Gospel, care for your people, equip us for ministry, and lead us forth in fulfillment of the Great Commission; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
